Every day, humans around the world face traumatic experiences. Based on a study by the National Council of Behavioral Health, around 70% of all U.S. citizens have suffered a traumatic event at least once in their lives (NCBH, 2013). Whether it’s the loss of a friend, a college rejection letter, or breaking your phone, all these events impact one’s emotional health negativity, though the severity of the impact varies. Times can be tumultuous for someone who has been traumatized emotionally, but it is crucial that the victim maintains a positive wellbeing in order to regain their emotional stability. Optimism can have a plethora of positive effects on the health and lives of humans; some of these effects can lead to success and prosperity.
What are some of the positive effects of good wellbeing?
As cliché as it seems, happiness does really lead to success. However, it doesn’t instantly lead to accomplishment; it’s a step by step process. Firstly, by maintaining positive wellbeing, one becomes less stressed and calmer, as they will think better thoughts instead of malicious ones. Lauren Parson’s stunning article about well-being describes how happiness leads to a 23% reduction in stress (Parsons, 2018). You may be wondering, what does stress have to do with success? Well, individuals work best in a serene environment free of distractions. When someone is working while stressed, they can be disturbed by their visions and anxiety. Therefore, when one is less stressed when they work and at ease, there are fewer distractions. With fewer distractions, one can work more efficiently which can lead to high-quality work. Also written in Parson’s article, happiness can lead to a 31% increase in productivity, and when one is more productive, they are certainly more successful.
An overall good mood can help one become more social. A negative mindset can make it harder for one to build relationships. Just like the saying, you attract the same energy you give. This signifies that if you are positive and kind, you will attract other people who have the same personality as you; positive and kind. I Strong relationships in one’s life can improve emotional health since they won’t feel isolated or oppressed. This signifies that one who hangs out with other positive individuals is less likely to be affected by depression and suicidal thoughts.
How to maintain/have a positive mindset?
Everyone can build a positive mindset by following certain rules and restricting themselves from negativity that can harm their wellbeing. Here is a list of 2 things that anyone can do today to possess a positive mindset.
Restrict yourself from social media
Social media can be either extremely helpful or extremely injurious. Using social media to learn something new or to study is an example of how social media is helpful. Stalking the bikini models’ profiles on Instagram and comparing yourself to them is an example of how social media can be extremely harmful to your well-being. Why is this the case? When you’re comparing your body to someone elses, it can make one feel awful about themselves. They may feel overweight because they have stretch marks, or have thicker thighs. This can lead to anorexia, an emotional disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat. By removing accounts which do not give you positivity from your social media, it will be easier to embrace yourself.
Don’t let the thoughts of others about you dictate yours.
Some individuals enjoy being toxic and love to discourage others from succeeding. Whenever you are around someone like this, and they’re being rude towards you or are making fun of you, remember to remove yourself from the situation. In most cases, individuals are rude to others because they are insecure within themselves.

Its countless effects on your physical, emotional, and psychological health prove such. Life has its ups and downs, and when one faces losses and sadness, they must follow certain steps to maintain a positive mindset to remain happy.
